Aldon Smith, who was reinstated today, signed a deal with the Dallas Cowboys.
It is a 1 year, $4 million deal, which includes a $2 million base salary, and $2 million in sack incentives.
Aldon Smith was drafted in 2011 by the San Francisco 49ers as the 7th pick. He recorded a career high 19.5 sacks in 2012, and last played for the Raiders in 2015. He has a total of 47.5 sacks in his NFL career, in 59 total games. He also has 180 total tackles.
He was issued a suspension in 2015 for breaking the leagues substance-abuse policy, and was released by the Raiders in 2018.
It is a good pickup for Dallas, and can make their defensive line extremely explosive with Demarcus Lawrence on the other side.
Aldon Smith has completely turned his life around, and has the ability to return as a First-Team All-Pro player. He used to have the explosiveness of players like Khalil Mack and Von Miller, and will hope to bring that back with him on the Cowboys. He has good playoff experience from the 49ers 2012 playoff run, and will surely prove himself to the league.
