Which Team is the Best Fit for Cam Newton?

After Cam Newton was given up on by the Carolina Panthers, he is in desperate search for a new team. The former 2015 MVP and 2011 ROY has a lot of potential, but is fighting severe injuries which involve his shoulder and foot. I will look into the best fits for him in this NFL world of mayhem.

Chargers

Though the Chargers have stated that Tyrod Taylor will be there QB moving forward for 2020, a lot of people can still question his ability. Tyrod Taylor did not start a game in 2019, and did not show much promise when he last did in 2018.

However, Cam could best the perfect fit. With wide receivers like Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, and with the emerging Austin Ekeler, Cam Newton could enjoy playing with the Chargers toys on offense. In fact, Carolina Panthers All-Pro guard Trai Turner was recently traded to the Chargers, and has the opportunity to re-unite with Cam Newton.

With the signing of Cam Newton, the Chargers can go from pretenders to contenders. The Chargers defense is also loaded with Chris Harris Jr., Joey Bosa, Desmond King, Casey Hayward, Nasir Adderley, and many more stars. In fact, Cam Newton was seen working out with Tyrod Taylor days after being released. If the Chargers do give Cam Newton a chance, don’ t count out the L.A. Chargers for the playoffs

Patriots

Cam Newton wants to win. That is obvious. But there are only so many NFL teams with a staff that can help you win it all. Bill Belichick is known for that. If you can pair Cam Newton and Belichick, you suddenly have two guys that have been fighting adversity recently. This could be a dangerous combo.

The Patriots are very limited at the QB position. Their current starter for 2020 is Jarrett Stidham, who has not proven much if anything. Perhaps signing Cam Newton could also provide mentoring for Stidham as well.

With the Patriots #1 defense from 2019, and Julian Edleman, along with many other offensive studs, the Patriots could go straight back to Super Bowl contenders with the dangerous Cameron Newton

Raiders

The Raiders recently signed Marcus Mariota to help with QB depth, but the Raiders are pretty sure to stick with Derek Carr for 2020.

However, can Derek Carr offer as much as Newton can for the Raiders?

The Raiders have never finished first in the division with Carr, and have only made the playoffs once. This should raise concerns as Derek Carr has simply been an average QB.

The NFL world did not see much of Cam Newton and Christian McCaffrey, but we did see a glimpse of it in 2018. Why is this important you might ask? Because it shows how deadly Cam Newton can be with a great RB. Cam was putting up numbers better than his 2015 MVP season in 2018, before getting hurt against the Steelers in week 10.

The point is that Cam Newton can be very dangerous with young Josh Jacobs. Josh Jacobs ran for 1,150 yards and 7 TDs as a rookie, and is only destined to get better. Add this with Hunter Renfrow and Tyrell Williams, and the Raiders could be a force to be reckoned with.

The Raiders have also worked on the defense this past offseason, with Cory Littleton being the main move. Cam Newton could bring a new level of intensity to this Raiders team, and possibly push them to playoff contenders, even with Mahomes and the Chiefs in their division.

Steelers

The Steelers were extremely close to being in the playoffs in 2019, but barely missed it. Part of this is due to a lack of a good QB.

The Steelers have a very good team. With Juju-Smith, Eric Ebron, andJames Connor, with a good offensive line, Cam Newton could make this a top tier offense. Also, the defense is really good, and is filled with stars like Minkah Fitzpatrick, Bud Dupree, Terrell Edmunds, and many more.

Their QB situation is not very adequate however. The Steelers have Ben Roethlisberger and Paxton Lynch, who aren’t the best options. Ben has lost a lot of athletic ability, and is not aging as well as Tom Brady. Paxton Lynch shows sign of average, and nothing else.

With Cam Newton, this borderline playoff team could become a top seed, and enjoy some home games in the post season.
