Where Will Jadeveon Clown Land?

The 2014 1st overall pick, Jadeveon Clowney, remains on the market later than expected.

Clowney only played 11 games in 2019 with Seattle, but managed to record 3.0 sacks and a career high 4 forced fumbles.

Jadeveon Clowney is an elite DE, but has a very high asking price. He reportedly declined a deal from the Dolphins back in March that would pay him $17 million annually.

Today, we will examine 3 teams that not only need Clowney, but have the cap space to sign him!

Tennessee Titans

With NFL training camps just three weeks away, Jadeveon Clowney remains unsigned, but it shouldn’t be for much longer.

The Tennessee Titans are in need of another DE alongside Jurrell Casey, and Clowney is just that. Titans GM Jon Robinson seems very high on Clowney, but would like to see him in person before offering a contract.

Robinson is impressed by what he has seen from Jadeveon on Twitter, but needs to be assured he is healthy. Robinson said, “Anytime you are dealing with whatever the contract is going to command, you want to make sure that the player is healthy, that you are able to allow your doctors to see him, to look at it, to make sure everything is going to be good.”

Tennessee did sign Vic Beasley this offseason, which could make it hard to offer Clowney his very large asking price. If they are able to land him, the Titans defense will be a force to be reckoned with.

Seattle Seahawks

With the Browns practically out of contention for Jadeveon Clowney, it seems more likely for the Seahawks to resign their star DE. The Browns offered Clowney the highest amount out of any team, but he still declined. Instead, the signed Oliver Vernon. This heavily increases Clowneys chances to sign with Seattle.

However, Patrick Mahomes contract could affect Seattle’s chance to land Clowney. After Mahomes signed his record breaking contract paying him $40 million a year, many QBS will be looking to match this or be close to it.

One of these QBs is 6x Pro Bowler and 1x Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson. Russell is currently on a 4 year, $87.6 million contract.

Wilson will demand a large contract when the time comes, which will make it hard to find cap space to pay Jadeveon Clowney.

Seattle still has a legitimate shot to keep Clowney on the team for 2-3 years without worrying about paying their All-Pro Quarterback. Clowney has already experienced Seattle, and has the best shot at winning a Super Bowl here than any other in contention to sign him.

Las Vegas Raiders

Jon Gruden has already made quite a positive change to Las Vegas, and he hopes to make another one by bringing Clowney to Nevada.

After losing Khalil Mack a few years back, the Raiders are in desperate need of a star defensive player that can get to the Quarterback.

The Raiders have made an offer to Clowney, but it’s not positive it meets Clowney’s demands. Gruden is very stern on signing Clowney, but the rest of the front office isn’t so sure.

With Clowney’s injury history including surgery in 2019, it may be a bit risky to sign him. However, a healthy Clowney is a scary sight for opposing Offensive Coordinators.

The Raiders currently sit at $8.28 million in salary cap space, some of which needs to go to rookies and practice squad players. Paying Clowney will be very tough for the Raiders, since there cap space situation is not ideal?

If the brand new Las Vegas Raiders are able to sign Clowney, it should be a great time watching him and Von Miller going at twice a year.
